Girls’ In Science Project (GISP) 2014
With half of the world’s population being female, the underrepresentation of girls in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) has been a global concern for the past 3 decades.
To help solve this problem, from April – November 2014, YcDEI organized the Girls’ In Science Project to create awareness and train over 100 teachers in using stories and games in classrooms to effectively impart knowledge, and retain more girls in science classes.
The project comprised of workshops, school visits, trainings and student interactions that encouraged and helped primary and secondary school girls gain interest in science subjects and courses.
The project saw to a visible increase of girls in science classes among schools involved.
