On Friday 24th September 2021, CSCSD commemorated the 6th anniversary of the 2030 Agenda with a mock Parliament, the theme being “NIGERIA PEOPLE’S ASSEMBLY – NATIONAL SDG STAKEHOLDERS PARLIAMENT”, as well as a book launch. The parliament received financial support from several organizations including GENDI, CAFSO, JDPC, SDSN-NIGERIA, IPC & MARIA EBUN FOUNDATION.

The assembly had several in session groups in attendance, including the youth group, women’s group, senior citizens, persons with disabilities and politicians. Dr Adefunke Ekine attended the program as a representative of Youthcare Development and Empowerment Initiative (YcDEI). Each group was tasked with creating policies relevant to their group to be submitted to the government. A prepared “Grand Recovery Plan” letter to General Buhari was submitted through Oyo State Government representative earlier in the day. Good will messages were also received from the UNDP Amarakoon Bandara, A4SD Oli Hensman, SSAP-SDGs Chief Adejoke Oorelope-Adefulire, TAP Network John Romano, CSPPS Petter van, Ojetola Support Group, Balogun Gaphar Ojetola and many more. The SA to the Governor on SDG Hon.  Kunle Yusuff j(MoN) delivered a lecture on the efforts of Oyo State Government in attaining the SDGs and promised that the Governor will support CSCSD with a project of collaboration in the nearest future.

The Executive Director of Youthcare Development and Empowerment Initiative, Dr Adefunke Ekine, was invited to the assembly as a member of parliament alongside several others including Prof. Mrs Comfort Onifade, Ms Theresa Funke Ajala, Mrs ‘Funmilayo Owolabi, Mrs Mrs Bukola Ladoja and Mrs Emmanuel Kehinde. Dr Ekine and other members of the women’s parliament were invited to be representative parliament panelists at the 6th anniversary of the 2030 agenda and national people’s assembly.

Copies of the newly launched book, Grassroots Spotlight-Scorecard Report VNR 202, were distributed among the constituents. Over 50 participants were in attendance at the assembly. Several pictures of the event were taken.
