It was another impactful day when the Executive Director of Youthcare Development and Empowerment Initiative had a sensitization session on SRGBV in June 2022 with 54 teachers from various private schools in Ibadan Metropolis, educating them on the depth and severity of school related gender-based violence (SRGBV) within the school community. She spoke on the various forms of abuse a child can be exposed to, which include; Physical abuse, Sexual abuse, Emotional/ Psychological abuse, Neglect/Negligent treatment and Exploitation. All these forms of abuse have a long-term effect on the child, therefore the need to protect every child. Conclusively, she emphasized protecting children from all forms of abuse by ensuring open dialogues, creating safe spaces, and ensuring that the schools have safeguarding policy. Thirty (30) copies of stakeholders training manual on SRGBV(produced with support from Ford Foundation ) were given freely to school heads present.
