Dr Adefunke Ekine, the Executive Director of Youthcare Development and Empowerment Initiative on the 23rd of August, 2022 was a guest at Premier Fm 93.5 a program titled XX Files to discuss the emotional aspect of child abuse in the school space. She shared with the audience how emotional abuse affect the emotional development of the child and has both long term and short term effects, and that this will result to; low self-esteem, fear, withdrawal, poor academic performance, depression and suicidal thoughts. She advised teachers who are molders of destiny, to pay attention to and deal with each child based on their peculiarity and support children to grow in a nurturing environment to become the best version of themselves.
