We are thrilled to announce the launch of our project, “Institutional Strengthening and Advocacy for Interfaith Female Religious Leaders and Female-Led CSO’s on Gender-Based Violence in Oyo State,” supported by the Nigeria Women Trust Fund (NWTF). This initiative aims to empower female religious leaders and women-led Civil Society Organizations (CSO’s) in Ibadan-North, Akinyele, and Lagelu LGA’s to combat Gender Based Violence (GBV). So far, we have conducted advocacy visits to:
1. Oyo State Women Wing Christian Council of Nigeria (WOWICCN)
2. Ibadan North Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria Women’s wing
3. Federation of Muslim Women’s Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) in Ibadan North LGA
4. Federation of Muslim Women’s Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) in Akinyele LGA
5. Child Protection Network (CPN) in Ibadan-North LGA
6. Association of Women Orientations for Sustainable Development in Nigeria (AWON) in Lagelu LGA
Through these efforts, we have sensitized 55 participants on GBV and the crucial roles religious groups and CSO’s play in preventing and responding to it in Nigeria.
Our Program Officer, Busayo Oyekunle, shared insights on Youthcare’s previous work in this area and highlighted the importance of our partnership with NWTF in driving this initiative.
The response has been very encouraging, and participants are eager to join the upcoming training program!
Stay tuned for more updates as we work together to end GBV in Oyo State.
