YcDEI, with support from the Nigerian Women Trust Fund (NWTF) successfully organized a three-day training geared towards the cause of combating gender-based violence in Oyo state between the 3rd and the 5th of July 2024.

This impactful event brought together female CSO leaders and female religious leaders from Lagelu, Ibadan North, and Akinyele local government areas. Participants received comprehensive training in four key areas:

  1. Understanding GBV: Definition and Forms, GBV Prevention and Response Strategies
  2. Roles of religious, cultural, and CSO leaders in addressing GBV.
  3. Creating Safe Spaces and Support Systems.
  4. Understanding Advocacy and Policy Engagement.

Participants engaged deeply with the training materials using practical scenarios, culminating in group activities where they developed solutions to various GBV-related issues.

Distinguished guests included Dr. Odigbo, Coordinator of Child Protection Network, Dr. Oyedele, Coordinator of Community Chess Council, and Alhaja Adeleye, Deputy Coordinator of FOMWAN Oyo State Chapter. Their presence and contributions greatly enriched the training experience of the participants.

The event underscored the critical role of interfaith female religious leaders and female-led CSOs in combating gender-based violence and fostering stronger communities through advocacy, support, and collaboration.
